Gyeongbokgung Palace 경복궁 / 景福宮(キョンボックン) / 景福宫
Gyeongbokgung Palace was the first royal palace built in the Joseon Dynasty and where the Joseon Dynasty’s 500-year-history began. The largest of the five grand palaces remaining in Seoul, Gyeongbokgung provides a glimpse into Joseon’s royal culture and architecture through the Geunjeongjeon and other structures. The National Folk Museum of Korea and the National Palace Museum are also located on the palace grounds.

Gwanghwamun Square 광화문광장 / 光化門(クァンファムン)広場 / 光化门广场
This 555-meter-long, 34-meter-wide square is in front of Gwanghwamun,the main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Statues of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin and King Sejong, the historical figures most respected by Koreans, are situated in Gwanghwamun Square.

Sejong Center for the Performing Arts 세종문화회관 / 世宗(セジョン)文化会館 / 世宗文化会馆
This is one of Korea’s biggest performance theater representing Korea and also a cultural complex for exhibitions and cultural experiences. The facilities at the center include an art museum, small gallery, chamber music concert hall, medium-sized theater and a large theater that can seat over 3,000.

Hangeul Gaon-gil (Street) 한글가온길 / ハングルカオンギル / 韩文中心街
“Gaon” is an old Korean word meaning “center” or “in the middle”. The street is home to theheadquarters of the Korean Language Society, the site of Hangeul scholar Ju Si-gyeong’s residence, and Hangeul 10 Madang, as well as interesting stories about Hangeul.
